How to walk on fire
from the series "How to walk on fire" displayed in the show "Caminar sobre el fuego" at Galería WORM Cantera de Arte Independiente, Valparaiso, Chile. February 2016.
The images created by Gaspar Álvarez represent scenes and ideas that, as we know, come from a hunter-gatherer method that explore various mass media (as Internet, newspapers, magazines, etc.) along with all the leftovers that could contain images. His work is a drifting search that awaits for the encounter with something that speaks, insistently, about the same subjects; his images take place in a mystery that it’s conceived in the raw material (pictorial, graphical), to inquiry ourselves with a feeling of something unfinished that demands our attention.
His works speaks from an absolute present time, and from there we can locate each possibility of an alternate time, past or future.
