What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
Paintings from the series "What matters most is how well you walk through the fire," displayed partially in the shows "Permanecer de pie sobre el océano" (May 2012) and "Nunca Morir" (September 2011), both of them at Galería BECH, Santiago, Chile.
A fragment, like a small work of art, must be entirely isolated from the surrounding world and complete in itself like a hedgehog.Friedrich Schlegel
The survival anatomy of hedgehogs, isn’t only due to its ability to close itself, but to have spikes. The painting in the contemporary art continues to be an act of subjective resistance (and survival) towards the technological display of the industrial image. The performative comprehension of the image that belongs to he act of painting, and the painted canvas as the material result of that performance, appear as an effort of resistance against the hegemonic discursive interactions.
